Ships log: July 17, 2021. We left Cap Sante marina in Anacortes and arrived at Point Roberts.
Point Roberts is a piece of land of 5 square miles that is the USA, bordered with Canada. A border that has been closed for over a year. The only grocery store was about to close permanently, and was awarded a grant by the state this past week that bought them time. The marina is mostly empty. Slips available but no boats to moor. With the only way in/out being by boat or plane, or thru the USA/Canadian border, this might as well be a deserted island.
Then something really cool happened! A brand new Cutwater 24 center console returning from shrimping passed by a pair of moored RT-27 OB’s who came up here to visit for the night (us!). She came over, introduced herself. And took us for a tour around Point Roberts!
We got to see the gorgeous views of the Salish Sea, as well as rode along the USA/Canadian border, 10 foot from Canada!
Special thanks to Helen for stopping by and giving us the tour! There are a few restaurants open and we had a great time!
